Mr. Harry Kimtai officially takes over the Mining Docket
Mr. Harry Kimtai officially assumed his role as the Principal Secretary in the State Department for Mining on 1st April 2025, taking over from his predecessor, Mr. Elijah Mwangi.
In his address, PS Kimtai expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to lead the department and outlined his vision for the future of Kenya’s mining sector.
He emphasized his commitment to driving the department to greater achievements, particularly in the areas of resource management, innovation and sustainable mining practices.
"Together, we will unlock the full potential of Kenya's mineral resources while ensuring that we adhere to the principles of environmental responsibility and community development," said PS Kimtai. "I am fully aware of the task ahead of us and I am confident that with the dedicated team and a shared vision, we will propel this sector to new heights."
He also took the opportunity to wish his predecessor, Mr. Elijah Mwangi, continued success in his new assignment, acknowledging Mr. Mwangi’s contributions to the sector during his tenure.
In his call to the staff of the State Department for Mining, PS Kimtai stressed the importance of fostering a culture of teamwork, collaboration and innovation.
Senior officers from the State Department for Mining attended the handing over ceremony held at the Ministry of Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs headquarters.
