Our Main Agenda is to Develop the Mining Sector, CS Joho Says
Mining, Blue Economy, and Maritime Affairs Cabinet Secretary, Hassan Ali Joho has reiterated his commitment to advancing the mining sector for the benefit of the people of Kenya.
"Our primary agenda in the mining sector is to develop it properly for the benefit of the country," said CS Joho.
He spoke during a meeting with mining caucus stakeholders where discussions focused on the sector’s progress and recent developments aimed at enhancing Kenya’s mining profile.
The meeting was also attended by Mining Principal Secretary Elijah Mwangi and senior officials from the State Department for Mining. Representatives from the mining caucus included members from the Kenya Chamber of Mines (KCM), the Geological Society of Kenya, the Geologists Registration Board, the Mining Engineers Society of Kenya (MESK) and the Artisanal and Small-Scale Miners Association of Kenya.
Key issues discussed included the four recently approved mining regulations by the National Assembly which are expected to accelerate reforms in the sector.
Earlier, CS Joho separately met with members of the Artisanal and Small-Scale Miners Association of Kenya to explore areas of collaborating to enhance productivity within the sector
